Paris is a dream for voice over artists. The city is packed with top-tier studios, buzzing with creative energy and industry pros. But as much as I love stepping into a professional recording space, there’s something unbeatable about the control and comfort of my own studio. So, what’s the real difference?
Studio Sessions: The Paris Experience
Recording in a Paris studio feels like stepping into another world. The hush of a soundproofed booth, the glow of a Neumann U87 (other microphones do exist!), and an engineer on the other side of the glass, ready to capture every nuance. Studios offer high-end gear, experienced sound engineers, and the opportunity to collaborate in real time with clients. Plus, there’s something about being in a creative space that can bring out a different kind of performance.
The Power of My Home Studio
This is where I have complete control. My Neumann TLM 103, SSL 2 interface, and Studiobricks booth create professional sound, and I can record whenever inspiration (or a client) strikes. There’s no commute, no time pressure. Just pure focus.
Remote sessions are seamless too. Clients can direct me live, just as they would in a Paris studio. And for projects that require multiple takes or last-minute tweaks? I can deliver fast without stepping outside my door.
Which is Better?
I'd have to say BOTH! Studios are fantastic for high-profile projects with big teams. Home studios win on flexibility, speed, and efficiency. Luckily, I get the best of both worlds. Ready to step into a studio when needed, but always with the ability to deliver pro-quality recordings from my own space.
Whichever setting I’m in, the goal is always the same: delivering the best voice over, every time.
